Pixel: 
The min light-emitting unit of LED Display, every light-emitting unit can be controlled separately. 

A cluster of red, green, and blue diodes is driven together to form a full-color pixel, usually square in shape. These pixels are spaced evenly apart and are measured from center to center for absolute pixel resolution. 

The LED display is the final completed product for advertising or information showing, it was composed by a certain rows and lines of unit LED cabinet; the unit LED cabinet were composed by a certain quantity of LED modules, each LED module were composed by 16*16/16*8/8*8/4*4/1*1 LED pixels; each LED pixels were composed by 2R1G1B/2R2G1B/2R1B/2R1G/2R/1R. 


LED Display Resolution:
Longitudinal pixels x latitudinal pixels
In same one panel, higher resolution means it can show more content, thus you will get a clearer picture/video but the cost is more.


In certain direction, the lighting brightness unit per each area is cd/㎡. The LED Display luminance is in proportion to the LED lamps number and the lamp brightness in each area.

The brightness of Indoor Full Color LED Display is required to reach 800 cd/㎡ - 2000 cd/㎡; the brightness of Outdoor Full Color LED Display is required as 8000 cd/㎡ for facing sun, 4000 cd/㎡ in the shade.

LED Display Gray Scale:

Grayscale is a range of shades of gray without apparent color. The darkest possible shade is black, the lightest possible shade is white, Intermediate shades of gray are represented by equal brightness levels of the three primary colors (red, green and blue) for transmitted light, or equal amounts of the three primary pigments (cyan, magenta and yellow) for reflected light.

Currently domestic LED Display adopts 8 bit gray scale, there’re 256 different color levels from black to white, by using the primary RGB color there’re totally 16777216 colors (256x256x256).

LED Display Contrast:

The difference in color and light between parts of an image. For LED Display, in the same lighting condition, the contrast means the ratio between the max brightness of LED Display and the background brightness. User will get a good effect when the ratio is over 4096:1.


LED Display White Balance:

White color is mixed by Red, Green and Blue by a certain ratio, that is 3:6:1 for R:G:B. it is one of the most important indicator for LED Display or other video media.

A LED screen is a video display which uses light-emitting diodes. An LED panel is a small display, or a component of a larger display or screen. They are typically used for Commercial Advertising and Information Release, like outdoors in store signs, Exhibition Center new broadcasting and Shopping Plaza Billboards. In recent years it has also been commonly used for Traffic Guidance like Highway, Rail Transit, TGV, and used as destination signs at Airport or Terminal Building.

3. Types of LED Screens:
There are two types of LED panels: Double In-line Package (DIP) and surface-mounted device (SMD) panels.



Most outdoor LED Displays are built around DIP LEDs, also known as individually mounted LEDs. A cluster of red, green, and blue diodes is driven together to form a full-color pixel.. 

Most indoor LED Displays on the market are built using SMD technology—a trend that is now extending to the outdoor market. An SMD pixel consists of red, green, and blue diodes mounted on a chipset, which is then mounted on the driver PC board. The individual diodes are smaller than a pinhead and are set very close together. The difference is that the maximum viewing distance is reduced by 25% from the discrete diode screen (DIP) with the same resolution. And the viewing angle is different, the view angle of DIP led is 110°/50°, the SMD led is 140°/140°.
